Protect Yourself from the ‘Third Hazard’

You’re likely to be faced with three hazards during your lifetime. The first is dying too soon, leaving those dependent on you without your talents and income. Life Insurance was invented to protect your loved ones...and your business partners if such applies to you...against this first hazard.

The second hazard is living too long, running out of cash to take care of yourself in your retirement years, which is why pension plans, 401k’s, IRA’s, Social Security and similar retirement income plans were invented.

Most savvy people have at least made a start at shielding themselves from these two of life’s hazards. However, many have not come to grips with the third, and possibly most dangerous, hazard...Disability: being unable to earn an income to pay for food, clothing and shelter, after being struck down by an accident or illness. And because you’re unable to work, you’re also not able to pay a care giver or assisted living facility when you can’t care for yourself.

Think about it: your ability to work and earn the dollars to maintain your standard of living is a most precious asset. Follow the money...work equals cash, and no work usually equals no cash. And no cash usually results in economic disaster. But insurance does exist to replace lost income and pay for care givers if an assisted living facility is needed later.

Insurance to replace lost income is called Disability Income insurance. Insurance to provide the cash to pay for assisted living is called Long-Term Care insurance. These plans are related products and come in several variations, providing money when you need it most. Benefits and costs can be custom-designed to fit your circumstances.

Shielding yourself against the Third Hazard is easier than you think. To learn more about this important subject, and how it applies in your case, contact me today:
